Gordon’s success as a leader derives from his ability to give clear direction in an understandable and acceptable way. He follows Greenleaf’s concept of servant leadership – being supportive, enabling and empowering of one’s team. Wildlife Trust colleagues say he is ‘one of the movement’s great leaders’.
Gordon was appointed OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2006 for Services to Conservation.
“Gordon possesses one vital characteristic: fearlessness. Without this it is impossible to lead change.”
Stephanie Hilborne, Chief Executive, The Wildlife Trusts
